Having Courage: 150 Seconds of Success with Cindra

KEYC News 12 has a new segment featuring local performance management expert Cindra Kamphoff.

Thursday November 5th, on KEYC News 12 Midday, Cindra talked about Courage.

Cindra says courage is the ability to do something that frightens you.

Courage is not the absence of fear. It is feeling the fear, and having courage to go after your goals and dreams regardless of the fear.

We can train our minds to act more courageously in everyday life.

When we aren’t courageous, we live with fear and in fear.

Fear stops us in our tracks and doesn’t allow us to go after our goals and dreams.

Cindra offers several tried-and-true ways to loosen the grip of fear on your life and become more courageous than you ever imagined.

Tip 1:

Think of one thing that is kinda or really stressing you out. For example, maybe you are worried that you will never get your dream job, your kids will grow up to be unsuccessful, or you won’t be able to pay rent next month.

Your fear is tied to a negative expectation. You think something’s going to go wrong.

Tip 2:

One of the most effective ways to banish fear is to repeatedly force yourself to face what you’re afraid of.

Research has found that this repeated exposure lowers the fear response until it is more manageable or in some cases gone.

We must understand our selves and move towards the fear. Win the battle with yourself.  There is a struggle internally. Mastering yourself is true power!

Use a power phrase to have more courage.

“I will fight my fear and win.”

“I will move towards my fear.”

Living an intentional life is about thought discipline. It is not moving away from your fear, but moving towards it.
